Energy Transition Supported by Stakeholders at 43rd ASEAN Summit

Jakarta, LINews – The 43rd ASEAN Summit must reflect the future-oriented spirit of ASEAN countries. One of the things that must be encouraged is the use of energy sources that are favorable to the environment.

Indonesia’s commitment to actively participating in the energy transition is demonstrated by the provision of environmentally friendly vehicles during the summit in Jakarta on 5—7 September 2023.

This was stated by Fanda Dwitanto, Technical Support of Wuling, during an interview with the Communications and Media team at the Wuling Car Pool in Istora Senayan Jakarta, on Sunday (09 September 2023).

Wuling Motors (Wuling), the Official Car Partner of the 43rd ASEAN Summit 2023, will deploy 150 Air-EV to facilitate the mobility of the conference delegates.

“We were requested by the Ministry of State Secretariat to provide Wuling Air-EV units. He emphasized that all units supplied are brand-new and not vehicles that were used at the previous G20 Summit.

The Air-EV units to be presented are the Pristine White Long-Range variant. On the right and left doors are the official logo of the 2023 ASEAN Summit and the phrase ‘Shaping Clean Tomorrow’, which represent Wuling’s spirit to contribute to the creation of cleaner air for the future. The vehicle’s exterior is also adorned with Betawi batik patterns consisting of Bondol eagle and jasmine and dominated by orange and dark purple hues. On the front hood, a red and white flag is displayed. “Made in Indonesia” is emblazoned on the trunk door of this electric vehicle, which is manufactured domestically.

Air-EC Long Range can travel up to 300 kilometers on a single battery charge, making it suitable for meeting the mobility needs of the delegates.

To support the smooth operation during the summit, 13 charging locations, a car wash, and a small workshop are provided at the Wuling Car Pool.

The presence of this charging location enhances the facilities that PT PLN has already provided. During the 43rd ASEAN Summit, PLN prepared 79 EV charging stations, including 74 Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) and five Public Electric Charging Stations (SPLU).

These infrastructures are specifically designed to accommodate 560 units of electric cars and 240 units of electric motorcycles during the event.
